Second Ultrasound!!!

Yesterday I had my second ultrasound, and we were able to find out that we're having a girl!!! We are so thrilled, now I just have to stop myself from going shopping for her, it's so tempting. The ultrasound technician said that everything looks great and during the ultrasound our little girl was moving around so much. I could not believe that I could not feel all of that movement...soon, hopefully. I am 18 weeks now and apparently I was off on the due date by one day... so the new (real) due date is May 22nd, which is also my sis-in-law Jessi's bday! Anyway, we are soooo excited. Here are a few pictures that we were given during the visit:

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star...

I know almost everyone already knows that I'm pregnant, plus Kristy Simpson posted it on her blog a month ago, haha, so I don't know why I'm writing this new post about the pregnancy thus far, but oh well. I'm still going to post it. For those of you who may not know yet, I am pregnant! Now I'm 14 weeks along and into my second trimester. This pregnancy has been amazing. I have not been sick one day (besides having a cold and sore throat) and the worst symptom I've had is major food aversions, which isn't necessarily a bad thing when you usually will eat anything in sight!
Our first doctors appointment was on October 15th and at that time I was 8 1/2 weeks along. We were able to do an ultra-sound and hear the baby's heart beat beating at 168 beats per minute! It was the most amazing thing ever. Most people tell me that they cry every time they first hear their baby's heartbeat, but I didn't exactly have that same response. I just started laughing! I let out a little chuckle, I guess because I was just so surprised and amazed at the same time that I didn't know what else to do.
Then our last doctor's appointment was this past Wednesday, November 12th. The entire appointment took about 10 minutes tops. I gave them my urine sample, the doctor did a very quick ultrasound to find the heartbeat again, and said "Yep, there's a baby in there, do you have any questions?" and we were on our way. (I've been reading every pregnancy book in sight for the past year so I definitely don't have any questions when I go to the doctor. Haha, I know, I'm crazy.) For some reason I was under the impression that I was going to get another ultrasound picture at my last appointment, but I didn't, so hopefully soon I will post the first picture we received at our 8 week visit. For that to happen, I have to first learn how to scan a picture into our computer, I know I'm old school, so it may be a couple of days before I post the 8 week picture of the little one where it looks more like a tadpole than a human.
We find out the sex of the baby in about a month on December 16th, and we are very excited for that! I know it will come so soon. The past few months have been really flying by. I definitely would prefer to have a girl first to set a calm, peaceful tone in the home for the rest of the siblings, which is why I'm sure we're having a boy! I will be delighted either way, I just want to know what we're having and get prepared. Anyway, I just thought I should write SOMETHING about the pregnancy and I will keep updating the blog as things progress.

NC State Fair!

This past Monday we went to the NC State Fair with the Simpson family. I now realize that the state fair is much more fun when you go with little kids who are excited about the rides and the petting zoo, etc. If Andrew and I had gone by ourselves it would not have been as fun as going with this Simpsons and their little girls that we love so much! The only thing I really look forward to at the fair is the FOOD! Andrew and I had a huge turkey leg (I've always wanted one but never got one in the past) and of course, a funnel cake. I was so excited for that funnel cake all day, and it definitely met my expectations. Anyway, we basically saw all the animals, went to the petting zoo, ate food, and watched the girls go on the rides. We didn't stay that long but it was worth going and we had a great time. Here are just a few pictures from the fair:

Labor Day Weekend!

I realize this is a couple of weeks late, but here are some pictures from Labor Day weekend. We went down to the beach and stayed at a beach house on Oak Island with our good friends Ryan and Melissa. We had a great time!

Ryan, Meliss, me and Andrew at the Provision co.

We went crabbing and actually caught 3 crabs! It was so much fun. The boys wanted to take the crabs back to the house and cook them up and eat them, but Meliss and I made them throw them back.

At the beach... it was so beautiful!

Welcome to Our Blog!

I know what you are all thinking: It's about time! For those of you who know us well, you know that both Andrew and I are techniphobes, so this is a very big step for us. I mean, we don't even own an ipod yet, and I finally learned how to use one just last week. Anyway, I'm excited to get this blog going and hopefully I will quickly learn how to maneuver through this blog and make it more exiting!
