Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star...

I know almost everyone already knows that I'm pregnant, plus Kristy Simpson posted it on her blog a month ago, haha, so I don't know why I'm writing this new post about the pregnancy thus far, but oh well. I'm still going to post it. For those of you who may not know yet, I am pregnant! Now I'm 14 weeks along and into my second trimester. This pregnancy has been amazing. I have not been sick one day (besides having a cold and sore throat) and the worst symptom I've had is major food aversions, which isn't necessarily a bad thing when you usually will eat anything in sight!
Our first doctors appointment was on October 15th and at that time I was 8 1/2 weeks along. We were able to do an ultra-sound and hear the baby's heart beat beating at 168 beats per minute! It was the most amazing thing ever. Most people tell me that they cry every time they first hear their baby's heartbeat, but I didn't exactly have that same response. I just started laughing! I let out a little chuckle, I guess because I was just so surprised and amazed at the same time that I didn't know what else to do.
Then our last doctor's appointment was this past Wednesday, November 12th. The entire appointment took about 10 minutes tops. I gave them my urine sample, the doctor did a very quick ultrasound to find the heartbeat again, and said "Yep, there's a baby in there, do you have any questions?" and we were on our way. (I've been reading every pregnancy book in sight for the past year so I definitely don't have any questions when I go to the doctor. Haha, I know, I'm crazy.) For some reason I was under the impression that I was going to get another ultrasound picture at my last appointment, but I didn't, so hopefully soon I will post the first picture we received at our 8 week visit. For that to happen, I have to first learn how to scan a picture into our computer, I know I'm old school, so it may be a couple of days before I post the 8 week picture of the little one where it looks more like a tadpole than a human.
We find out the sex of the baby in about a month on December 16th, and we are very excited for that! I know it will come so soon. The past few months have been really flying by. I definitely would prefer to have a girl first to set a calm, peaceful tone in the home for the rest of the siblings, which is why I'm sure we're having a boy! I will be delighted either way, I just want to know what we're having and get prepared. Anyway, I just thought I should write SOMETHING about the pregnancy and I will keep updating the blog as things progress.

Yea! It's finally official. I'm so happy and excited for you guys. But honestly, girls don't always set the calm. Just cause we had Brenden... oh wait yup he's a typical boy, and Kaleigh is a typical girl.. Good luck and um... do I need to fly over and teach you tech stuff.

I promise you having a girl first does not always put a calming affect on the rest of the family. You should have known Paige as a newborn, we wanted to divorce because she was SO AWFUL, but neither one of us wanted to take her. I wish I had that calm child first. I can't believe we ever had more! (I love her to death now, just a very hard baby!!)

Wahoo! Congratulations! That is so nice that you haven't been sick! What a blessing. You'll be the cutest pregnant woman ever! The time flies by, we've started counting down the weeks instead of up! 6 1/2 more weeks to go. Crazy! I can't wait to find out what you're having. Keep us posted!

I just don't get ladies who don't get sick when they're preggers. I was sick as a dog for at least 5 months, then queasy for the other 4. We loved Eliza as our first baby! She was so much fun, as were all the rest of them. You'll love motherhood.
