Snowin' in the NC!!

Friday night the white stuff began to fall...and it kept falling through yesterday midday. We have about 6 inches of snow here, which is very, very unusual for Raleigh. So yesterday, this being Katy's first snow, we went outside to play for a little bit. Katy didn't last long because it was in the 20's, but Blake, Andrew, and I took turns going down the snow hill we build on our boogie board!! Also, church was cancelled today because of the snow, ha, this is hilarious!! These North Carolinians need to move to Rexburg Idaho to see what real snow is like. Anyway, here are some of the pics we took:
Andrew and Katy getting ready to try out the small hill
Blake and Andrew playing on the bigger hill made after Katy went in

Here are some pics of Katy before we went on our walk last week. As you can tell, she does not like to wear hats or anything on her head for that matter. Watch what happens after I put the hat on her head...

Just barely put it on

Going for it with her hand

Couldn't quite get it off, so now going for it with the other hand

And it's off!!

Cute things Katy has started to do:

* Wave her arms up and down like a bird when really excited

* Dance when music comes on by rocking forward and back while sitting and nodding her head

* Clap her hands and bang toys together

*Say num num num while eating her solid food

*Rock back and forth on her hands and knees (nope, no crawling yet!)

*Give open mouth kisses to mommy and turns her head away when daddy goes in for a kiss

*Put both hands up to her face and squish her face a little (whenever she does this we say "Oh my" to her.)

First Christmas

This Christmas was the first year that we decided to stay home and celebrate with just our little family. We had a wonderful time, just the 4 of us (we were glad Blake could be with us). Christmas eve I cooked my first turkey and surprisingly it turned out great!! We had a nice candlelit dinner and carried on my family's tradition by going caroling to some neighbors and friends in the ward.

On Christmas day, Katy was in heaven. She loved ripping all of the wrapping paper and loved the crinkling sound. Of course, she loved the paper even more than the toys and books she recieved!!! We took a few pictures of her opening presents and because the adults stayed in our pj's all day, we are not in any of the pics. Now, I wish I would have taken some family pictures anyway...bummer, oh well, Katy is of course the cutest one in our family so here she is!!!

I'm not quite sure what this face is about but I love it!!
Trying to open a very tricky present from Grandma Jojo

Lovin' her presents!

Lovin' her puppy
Lovin' the frosty book - she likes books a lot more than toys!
Katy is sooo much fun lately, she is getting to be such a big girl with a BIG personality. She will definitely tell you if she doesn't like something ie. birping her halfway through the bottle, not feeding her fast enough... she is a demanding little girl but we think it's because she's smart. After all, she does like books more than toys!! She recently got her first tooth (we'll it started to poke through on the 27th of December). Now both bottom teeth have broken through the gums so of course everything Katy touches goes in her mouth. She is sitting up pretty well now but no crawling yet, she's a little behind but oh well, she'll do it eventually. By the way at her six month check up here were her stats:
Height: 27 inches 90th percentile
Weight: 18 lbs. 90th percentile
Head: 48 c.m 90th percentile
The doctor told me, "We'll she's poportional, not too fat or thin, she's just right."
She is such a cute, sweet little girl and we love her more every day! Here are some more recent pics:

Trick or Treat!!!

Here are some pics from Katy's first Halloween. We hung out at the house and passed out candy, but we did take Katy trick or treating to our friends' house a few doors down. Unfortunately, her kitty costume was soooo thick and warm and it was 80 degrees that day. So instead of putting her in furry pants with large kitty paws on them we just put her in white tights...it still worked out. I was a ballerina (it was the only costume I already had!! haha) and Andrew and Blake didn't dress up (those bums) but Andrew did say that he was "wolverine" (notice the hair). Anyway, we had a good time just hanging out with fam and passing out candy to the kids in the neighborhood.

Solids!!!

Also, last week we started Katy on rice cereal, because she had been acting soo hungry and actually was adding a full feeding for a couple of days. She's been doing ok with it so far but I think she realizes the rice cereal is pretty gross tasting. We're going to try some oatmeal or barley and veggies as soon as I can get to the store to get some. Here is a pic of her after her first solid meal..

One other recent development is that Katy is babbling mamama all day long. I know she doesn't know what she is saying but I still like it...Andrew keeps trying to get her to say dada but it is just not happening.

Family!!

So I was going to first post a few pics of my fam and then Katy pics, however, my computer is having a hard time dragging photos, so I guess we'll start with Katy updates. A little over 2 weeks ago, Katy went in for her 4 month check up and shots. Here are her stats:

Height: 25 1/2 in = 75th-90th percentile
Weight: 15 lbs. = 75th-90th percentile
Head: 43 cm. = 90th-95th percentile

Katy is the love of our lives and every day is so much fun with her in our home. She is truly a joy and we lover her sooo much.

Katy:

- Sleeps 10 straight hours at night and takes two 2 hr. naps during the day, she is such a good girl
- Loves to roll over onto her stomach and then complain because she hates tummy time
- Likes to do anything outside and is fascinated by the trees, sun, flowers, etc.
- Refuses to take her morning nap during church which makes for a long Sunday
-Loves to dance around the room to loud music with mommy or daddy and thinks mommy dancing for her is funny
- Sings lots of songs with mommy including "Peas Porridge Hot" and "Wheels on the Bus"
- Will read for literally an hour at a time, she loves to look at books (which the teacher in me is excited about)
- Enjoys being thrown up in the air
- Splashes violently in the tub during her baths
- Is not ticklish at all, and actually is quite serious, at least for mommy. Of course daddy can get her to laugh easily.
- Has started to be interested in our food that we're eating and attempts to drink water from a cup. Once she realizes that it's cold, she makes a sour face and spits out the water.

We love our baby girl!!!

This is what her large smiles look like most of the time - she closes her eyes, arches her back, sticks her tongue out, and puts her hands up to her ears

Happy girl!!

I love this face

Andrew and Blake recently planted grass in our backyard and so we went outside to hang out and enjoy the new yard and wonderful fall weather.

Katy did this on her own. I put the book by her feet and she grabbed both ends of it and pulled it closer to her face so she could see it better...my little genius haha.

Last weekend my family, the Rosa's came for a 5 day visit. We had a wonderful time together, and our activities included going to Hillridge Farms, carving pumpkins, painting Katy's room, hanging out in downtown Wake Forest, and just spending a lot of good time talking and playing Farkle (or should I say Fadoogle)!!
